What is ENUM?
ENUM is the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) protocol RFC 2916. It discusses the use of DNS for the storage of E.164 numbers and the available services connected to an E.164 number. Each ENUM number is mapping with a group of URI. Thus we can use the software supporting ENUM to browse web side, send Email or Fax and so on by just inputting an E.164 number. What is the web side set up for?
The web side is part of CNNIC ENUM trial, which is developed and maintained by CNNIC. It is provided for persons, companies, universities or research institutes to register and study ENUM. Also CNNIC can collect feedback, get experience and give some suggestion to government department.
CNNIC ENUM Which domain is used for CNNIC ENUM registration?
The domain is "6.8.e164.arpa", which is applied and got from RIPE-NCC for trial. At present, CNNIC is in charge of administration and running this trial domain. And 86 is China's country code in E.164 standard. Moreover, one of "e164.arpa" slave servers is located in CNNIC.

Is it necessary to submit user's real info when registration?
Yes, it is. Please be sure to write real personal information and telephone number which is own by yourself and your institute, for the administration policy of telephone number is serious. And also, real information will help CNNIC to contact with you and notify you news.All the users and registered ENUM information is important for ENUM trial.
How to test whether a software or an equipment support ENUM?
You can first check the 'read me' file of software or equipment, find out whether it supports ENUM resolution. If it is not noted, you can register your ENUM number and test.
What is the relation between ENUM and VOIP? Will ENUM lower my communication fee?
ENUM is one of the most important mechanism in future VOIP application, but it is not equal to VOIP. ENUM will not lower your communication fee by itself.
What is the use of assigned SIP account when registry?
SIP account is used for your IP phone. At present, there is little public VOIP application and service supporting SIP, so CNNIC has set up a SIP server for users to register and user. You can download the SIP client of software phone and install it on your PC, or buy a SIP hardware phone, then configure the address of SIP server with 'sip.asrc.cn', and login with your SIP account, at last, you can communicate with your friend by ENUM through internet.
